To some, working at home isn’t all that much of a challenge or a change. To others, it poses a lot of difficulties and makes it hard to do their jobs. Distractions, interruptions, noise, kids, pets, stress. The key is find ways to survive and we’re here to help.
Create a Schedule
Set yourself specific times for work, chores, leisure, and relaxation. Having a schedule will give your day more structure and help you get into the right mindset to focus on your work.
Get into a Routine
Following a routine makes it easier to get into the right mindset for working.
Make an Office
Having a specific space for working helps to limit distractions and increase your productivity
Make Boundaries in the House
As much as we love our family, it has to be known that your work is important and while you’re working, there needs to be no disruptions, barring emergencies.
Communicate
Make communicating with your co-workers a high priority and even overcommunicate, if necessary. However, keep communications work-related!
Avoid Social Media
If you let it, social media becomes a black hole that swallows up all your time. When you’re working, try to stay off of your personal social media as much as possible. Allow only what is necessary.
Be Professional
Treat every day like you’re going into the office. Wake up, shower, get dressed, have breakfast, make coffee, sit in your “office”, and get to work. Small things like this can trick your mind into being more work focused.
These are just a few ideas to help you get through your workday at home. It may not be easy but if you really put your mind to it, you’ll be fine and work will get done.
